Blank lines are stored without a number by default and do not change the counter. Zeros are added before the number up to the specified length; characters and prefixes are counted separately.

Online tool for numbering each line
Add sequence numbers to text or a list without manual editing. Numbering works on the original lines, preserves existing hyphens, and allows the sequence to continue from a given value.
