Match parameters

Normal search takes the entered text literally. Case-insensitive search works with Cyrillic and Latin alphabet.

How to use search and replacement groups?
  • In normal mode, special characters are searched as text. Enable regular expressions for patterns, for example \b\d{4}\b.
  • Groups are available in replacement text: $1, $2, named groups $<name>, match found $& and dollar sign $$.
  • The whole words checkbox adds Unicode boundaries for both regular search and wildcard searches. In regular expressions, the sequence \b and \B also use Unicode letters and numbers, including Cyrillic.
  • Too complex regular pattern will automatically stop after a limited time.
  • The result is edited separately from the source. The Cancel button returns the previous contents of the result.

Search and replace text, words and patterns

Enter text, a phrase, or a regular expression to search, and then specify a replacement. You can change the first match or all at once, be case sensitive, and limit the search to entire Unicode words, including Cyrillic.

  • Normal search works literally; regular expressions support capture groups and Unicode boundaries.
  • For complex patterns, string search, hyphenation processing and time limiting with the ability to stop are available problem.
  • Individual editable result can be undone, copied or downloaded as TXT; original text is preserved.
  • The overview shows characters, characters without spaces, words, and lines.

In the simplified mode, the usual search, replace, search for all matches and case settings remain. Full mode opens regular expressions and result parameters.

QUICK INSTRUCTIONS

How to search and replace

Paste the original text, fill out the Find and Replace with fields, then click Replace. An empty replacement field removes the found text.

  • By default, literal text is searched; you can replace the first match or all, and also be case-sensitive.
  • “Whole words” uses Unicode and correctly takes into account the Cyrillic and Latin alphabet.
  • Regular expressions support groups in replacement: $1, $2, $<name>, match found $& and dollar sign $$.
  • If the regular pattern is running for too long, processing will stop automatically.
  • Full mode adjusts result line endings, long line wraps, and monospace font.
  • The result is edited separately from the source, it can be undone, copied or downloaded. Summary counts characters, words, and lines.

Simplified mode hides regular expressions and formatting settings.
