Convert paper sizes and pixel dimensions

Calculate pixel dimensions for ISO, JIS, US Letter, Legal, ANSI, photo, and envelope sizes at a selected DPI/PPI. Convert pixel dimensions back to physical units.

Choose a page size, orientation, and resolution. Results include inches and metric measurements for print and screen planning.

What size should be recalculated?

By default, 300 PPI is a guideline for high-quality printing. For web layouts, 72–96 PPI is typically used. Printer DPI (drops per inch) is another characteristic. The fractional part can be separated by a period or comma.

DPI and PPI are not the same thing

The pixel density of the image is used for calculation: PPI (pixels per inch). The interface retains the familiar DPI/PPI signature. The calculation is simple: size in inches × PPI = size in pixels. The pixel size is rounded to the nearest whole number, so a slight difference when converted back is normal.

300 PPI is selected by default as a common benchmark for quality printing. For screen layouts, set to 72 or 96 PPI; the actual size of the image on the display depends on the pixel density of the screen and the viewing scale.

Text data and calculation remain in this browser. The reference formats are nominal sheet sizes; The printer's printed margins are not taken into account.

Possibilities of paper size converter

  • ISO formats A/B/C, JIS B, US Letter/Legal/Tabloid, ANSI, Architectural Series, Photo Sizes and Envelopes.
  • Converting sheet format to pixels and image size in pixels to physical units.
  • Adjustable density 1–2400 DPI/PPI, popular presets from 72 to 600, portrait and landscape orientation.
  • Custom size in mm, cm or inches, pixel rounding and search for nearby paper formats.

By default, 300 PPI is selected as a common benchmark for printed graphics. This is an image size calculation, not an adjustment to the printer's physical resolution.

How to recalculate the size

  1. Select a direction: paper size in pixels or image size in pixels in mm, cm, and inches.
  2. For paper, select group, size and orientation. In the Custom Size group, enter the width, height, and units.
  3. Set DPI/PPI. A value of 300 is a common benchmark for printing; for the screen they often use 72 or 96.
  4. When converting pixels to paper, enter an integer width and height. The service will show the nearest size standards.
  5. The result is updated when fields are changed; "Copy Report" copies the size summary.
