Game State is a separate file

State saves the exact moment of the game. It can be downloaded, transferred to another computer and opened later with the same ROM and kernel.

File .nesstate contains status data and ROM fingerprint. When loading, the game and kernel are checked to ensure that the wrong file is not used. In-game SRAM saves, if the game supports them, are stored separately in the browser storage; they can be imported and exported through the emulator menu.

Saving the game

Game State is downloaded as a separate file and opens with the same ROM and kernel. SRAM game saves are available in the same browser profile; To transfer, use the state file.

NES emulator capabilities

  • Run .nes ROM files and select a game from the built-in list.
  • Two emulation cores: FCEUmm and Nestopia - can be switched if the game does not work correctly.
  • Keyboard control with hints for Russian and English layouts, gamepad and touch buttons.
  • Downloading and opening portable game state files; game SRAM data is saved in the browser storage.

Compatibility depends on the ROM and the kernel used. Use only game files that you have the right to use.

How to use the emulator

  1. Choose your own .nes file or select a built-in game.
  2. Choose FCEUmm or Nestopia, then click “Launch game.”
  3. The game starts automatically after the launch button. On a touch screen, use the D-pad and action buttons shown in the game window. On a computer, use the keyboard or a connected gamepad.
  4. To continue from the exact same point later, click “Download save state.” Open the file with the same ROM and emulator core.
  5. If the game does not start, try the other core and check that the ROM file is not damaged.

Download a save state to move it to another computer. In-game SRAM saves remain in this browser profile.
