Area and volume of geometric shapes

This area and volume calculator helps check geometry for coursework, renovation, drawings, and engineering estimates. Enter a shape’s dimensions to see the result, formula, and diagram.

Choose a rectangle, square, circle, triangle, rhombus, trapezoid, ellipse, or regular polygon to calculate area and available linear measurements. For cylinders, cones, spheres, prisms, and other solids, calculate volume and surface area. Choose millimeters, centimeters, meters, inches, feet, or yards; decimal points and commas are supported.

The formula and shape diagram update with the result. Save a CSV table, detailed JSON data, or a PNG diagram with the calculation; confirmed results can be restored from local browser history.

Full mode shows all available figures.

How to use the shape calculator

    Choose a shape and dimensions

Switch between 2D shapes and 3D solids, then choose a figure and length unit. Simple mode shows common shapes; full mode shows all 18. The result and diagram update as you type, and Calculate adds the result to history.

    Formulas and result units

Each figure shows its formula, the substituted values, and the LaTeX source. LaTeX is shown as text and does not require a rendering library. Area uses square units and volume uses cubic units of the selected length unit.

    Export and history

CSV saves a table of dimensions and results, JSON saves structured calculation data, and PNG saves a diagram with its formula and values. The last 15 confirmed calculations stay in this browser’s local storage; Clear history removes them.

    Cost graph

For 3D solids, enter a price per volume unit and choose a currency label. The graph estimates how volume and cost change when all linear dimensions are scaled; it does not convert currencies or provide market prices.
